WATE is reporting that an injured hiker on Mt. LeConte in the Great Smoky Mountains was rescued yesterday thanks to ham radio operators.
Radio operators say another hiker discovered the woman around 11:45 Sunday morning with a severe ankle injury.
He was unable to reach 911 on his cell phone, but was able to use his mobile ham radio to reach radio operators.
They then contacted park officials, who after several hours, were able to reach the woman and take her to the hospital.
That's all the information being reported at this time.
