I have been looking through this PCT blog to see what others are struggling with as they head through the snows in the Sierras this year. This hiker has some great video clips and photography, having just come through Forester Pass and Mt Whitney.

Earlier in the year I posted an excellent video from Ryan Commons that documented his seven-day hike across the Sierra Mountains along the John Muir Trail.
Ryan has recently posted another amazing video, this time showing what it takes to climb Mt. Shasta, the 14,179-foot tall snow capped volcanic peak in the Cascade Mountains of California.
It's 20 minutes in length, but well worth it if you love seeing beautiful scenery:

Summer Rambles 2009 – Part 1 – Lassen Peak, CA

At last I am updating my hiking blog to include a review of my summer, 2009 rambles. While the one I highlight in this post is not a backpacking venture, I was able to see parts of the Pacific Crest Trail and spent the day climbing a snow covered Lassen Peak while discovering the challenges, and yes, the fear of an ice-covered trail.
