Aurora Borealis

Friday, August 12th, 2011
Several weeks ago I posted a video of the Aurora Borealis. I've never had the opportunity to see this spectacular light display in person, but has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. I wanted to post another video collection of the Northern Lights for those that are as intrigued by them as I am.

This video is from Terje Sorgjerd, a photographer from Norway who spent a week capturing one of the biggest aurora borealis shows in recent years. The photos were taken in and around Kirkenes and Pas National Park bordering Russia - in temperatures around -13 degrees fahrenheit. Enjoy:

The Northern Lights

Friday, April 29th, 2011
Check out this awesome timelapse video of the Northern Lights that was shot by Ole Christian Salomonsen near Tromsø in Northern Norway.

Salomonsen spent over 6 months collecting footage for this project - shooting roughly 50,000 still shots in the process to make this video. He has put together a stunning collection of slow moving auroras in the woods, over mountains, above the city, in the foreshore, as well as reflections in the sea. He states on the Vimeo website some of these shots come from the most spectacular and strongest auroral outbreaks seen in many years.
